CASA PUEBLO


Casa Pueblo organizes community-based programs, campaigns and projects framed around education, the economy, and the protection and management of natural, cultural and human resources in order to promote sustainable development practices.  The workshops are participatory and open to all members of the local, national, and international community.  The experiences have been enriching, promising, and inspire hope for future generations.

CENTRO AMBIENTAL SANTA ANA (SANTA ANA NATURE CENTER)


The Centro Ambiental Santa Ana (CASA) is a nature center located in Bayamón, Puerto Rico.  It is administrated by the Puerto Rico Natural History Society, under a collaborative agreement with the Puerto Rico Natural Parks Company and the Interamericana University’s Metropolitan Campus.  CASA is dedicated to inspiring appreciation and respect for nature by means of educational and interpretive activities, and scientific investigation.

CENTRO PARA LA CONSERVACION DEL PAISAJE (CENTER FOR LANDSCAPE CONSERVATION)


The Center for the Conservation of Landscapes is a non-profit organization that develops projects to protect, conserve, restore, and improve the forested landscape of Puerto Rico, through the promotion of sustainable management practices and environmental education.   The Center applies an interdisciplinary focus towards technical and educational projects that impact the environmental and social services of a well-managed landscape.  An important factor is the integration of local residents such that they better understand their role in the landscape and can contribute to its sustainable management.

FIDEICOMISO DE CONSERVACION DE PUERTO RICO (CONSERVATION TRUST OF PUERTO RICO)


The Conservation Trust of Puerto Rico is a private, non-profit organization whose mission is to protect and enhance the Island’s natural resources.  The  carries out this mission through the acquisition and donation of lands of great ecological, aesthetic, historic and cultural value, and the establishment of conservation easements.  As part of its mission, the Trust develops programs aimed at educating the public about environmental issues and the need to protect and conserve our natural resources.  The only beneficiary of The Conservation Trust is the people of Puerto Rico.

INSTITUTO DE CIENCIAS PARA LA CONSERVACION DE PUERTO RICO (PUERTO RICO INSTITUTE OF SCIENCES FOR CONSERVATION)


The Puerto Rico Institute of Sciences for conservation (PRISC) is a not-for profit and 
nongovernmental organization created to support conservation through the transfer of social and environmental science-based knowledge to people and organizations engaged in the conservation of nature.  The mission is to promote a better understanding, new values, stronger and meaningful commitment, and empowerment of community, NGOs and government agencies involved in conservation throughout Puerto Rico.

SAN JUAN ULTRA


San Juan ULTRA is a community of researchers, managers, decision-makers, communities, and other interested groups concerned with contributing to the quality of life and environmental health of the city of San Juan and surrounding areas.  The Urban Long-Term Research Areas (ULTRAs) are part of a network of urban research sites supported by the USDA Forest Service and the US National Science Foundation for long-term research, application, and education on the sustainability of cities.  Both social and ecological communities are vulnerable to the changes and transformations that have taken place in San Juan in the name of urban development.  The well-being and quality of life of the city depends on a holistic understanding of how biophysical, economic and social factors interact in the Rio Piedras watershed and affect the sustainability of San Juan.

UNIVERSIDAD DE PUERTO RICO - RIO PIEDRAS


The University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras (UPR-RP, established in 1903) is a public research university located on a 289-acre campus in Río Piedras, San Juan, Puerto Rico.  UPR-RP serves more than 18,000 students, 20% graduate, and grants an average of over 3,000 degrees a year.  As a public comprehensive doctoral institution, its academic offerings range from the baccalaureate to the doctoral degree, through 70 undergraduate programs and 19 graduate degrees with 71 specializations in the basic disciplines and professional fields.  UPR‐RP has consistently granted the largest number of doctorate degrees to Hispanics in the US.  UPR-RP is the largest campus in terms of student population of the University of Puerto Rico System, and is the first public university in the history of Puerto Rico.
